Focus on SMB opportunities
Tech Data is giving resellers a chance to get fully up to speed with the latest opportunities
in the SMB market at this year’s Partner Academy event, which takes place near Chester on
September 30.
Previously known as the Vendor Engagement Forum, the refreshed format for 2016 is geared
specifically towards sales executives in partners that are targeting SMBs and has a strong focus on
enabling business growth and identifying new business opportunities.
Vendors supporting the event include Cisco, HP Inc., HP Enterprise and Veeam.
Spicers to revamp
partner programme
Spicers has reviewed its Brilliant Partner
proposition to ensure that it delivers more
tangible, relevant and beneficial products
and services for all sizes of reseller.
Since it was launched three years ago, the
programme has successfully delivered more than
20 different tools and services to help resellers
provide a wider offer to their customers.
However, with dealers facing increased
competition and higher costs, Spicers felt that
a fresh approach was needed to grow top and
bottom line sales.
Sales & Marketing Director Richard Ford said:
“This is an exciting new dawn for Brilliant Partners.
It is all about making sure that we help our dealers
‘future-proof’ their business and keep pace with
the ever-changing marketplace. The programme
focuses around growing our dealers’ businesses by
providing market sector and marketing expertise,
added value partnership initiatives and most
essentially by being a true supply chain partner.”
As part of this process, the wholesaler has
restructured its marketing function and is in the
process of filling 12 new marketing and dealer
support positions.
A series of regional launch events designed to
bring the programme to life are scheduled to take
place in November.

Midwich restructures
Document Solutions division
Document solutions and AV distributor
Midwich has re-structured its Document
Solutions division and created two new
management roles to improve the service
it provides to the channel and to help it
exploit new business opportunities.
The trade-only distributor has appointed Heidi
Lucas to the newly created role of Divisional
Manager of the Document Solutions team.
This means that, for the first time, the Business
Management, Document Solutions Account
Management and Sales Specialists teams will be
under the management of one person.
It has also created the new position of Vendor
& Strategic Account Development Manager. In this
role, Tressa Whitby will work alongside Lucas to
understand vendor and customer requirements
and ensure that their goals and objectives are
aligned with all functions within the Group.
Lucas and Whitby will both report to Divisional
Director Stuart Mizon.
He said: “Today’s announcement, and
the significant investment in people, further
strengthens our already successful division and
underlines our ongoing commitment to this sector.
It has also created opportunities for internal staff
to step up and enhance their development within
our business. There are 26 highly knowledgeable,
expert employees in the team, specialising solely
on document solutions, and we look forward to
exciting opportunities ahead.”
