BULLETIN
Duplo is introducing dealers and customers
to an expanded range of print finishing
equipment at a series of events held across
the UK.
These include a hands-on dealer/customer
event at the Heart of England Conference and
Events Centre in Coventry (February 9-11) and a
second Northern Lights exhibition, which this year
is taking place at the Royal Armouries Museum,
Leeds on March 8-9.
Northern Lights 2016 will provide a showcase
for new print finishing equipment and solutions from
Duplo, including the 600 Pro Digital Booklet System,
as well as from key partners like Antalis, the BPIF,
Friedheim International, Infigo Software, Proskills,
Renz, Vivid Laminating Technologies and Xeretec.
Among the new products Duplo will be
showing at its Coventry event are the Duplo 150Cr
Booklet System, an entry-level digital booklet-
maker with full bleed and crease functionality; the
entry-level Powis PhotoPress for creating lay-flat
photobooks; the double-sided Fujipla ALM3230
A3 laminator; and the IDEAL Shredcat
8283CC.
Angela Osborne, Digital
Finishing and Office Division
Manager, said: “Events
such as these underpin our
continual investment in our
product development, service
and support for the benefit
of our dealers and their customers.”

Affordable rental
Danwood has launched a new 3D printer rental scheme that will enable
schools to rent a KYOCERA CubePro 3D printer for as little as £145 per month.
The rental fee includes printer delivery, installation and set-up; a full set of
consumables; and a 12-month warranty. The CubePro from the 3D Systems uses
plastic jet printing to create 3D models layer by layer.
Fakes found out
HP removed more than 20,000 fake HP-branded
printer and IT products from the EU market in the
year to November 2015. In October and November
alone it removed 2,000 fake printer cartridges
from UK suppliers in three separate actions.
Tech Data takes on BQ
3D printers
Tech Data is stocking the full range of 3D printers,
kits and scanners from Spanish manufacturer
BQ. With prices starting at £640, BQ's range
makes 3D printing accessible and affordable.
Models include the Hephestos 2 kit-form printer,
which can be assembled in around an hour and
is specifically designed for use in education; the
Prusa i3, the most popular kit-form 3D printer
amongst the ‘RepRap’ community; and the pre-
assembled Witbox 2, which can produce output
up to 20cm in height.
CES Innovation award
for Mcor
3D printer company Mcor has been named
a CES 2016 Best of Innovation Awards
Honoree for its Mcor ARKe full-colour
desktop 3D printer. CES Innovation Awards
are announced in January at the annual CES
consumer electronics show in Las Vegas.
Mcor ARKe creates 3D models using printer
paper and a new adhesive deposition technique
that reduces build time and enables more complex
models to be produced. An integrated 4800 x 2400
dpi colour print head lets users create models in
high resolution colour.
Conor MacCormack, co-founder
and CEO of Mcor Technologies
Ltd, said: “We believe our newest
product will be an industry
disruptor with its unique full-
colour desktop capabilities, and are
excited to be recognized as leaders
in the 3D printing industry.”
Recycling award for Canon
Canon has received another award for its toner cartridge recycling programme, which
celebrated its 25th anniversary last year.
The People's Choice Award, voted for by the public, was presented to Canon at the The Circulars
2016 held at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland in January.
The annual awards programme, run by the Young Global Leaders of the World Economic Forum,
honours individuals and organisations that have made a notable contribution to the promotion of
circular economy principles.

What new WEEE rules
mean for printer
supplies resellers
DCI/Jet Tec is reminding partners that all
remanufactured inkjet and toner cartridges
are now classified as EEE (Electronic and
Electrical Equipment) products and that
anyone producing EEE products will need
to comply with new WEEE regulations.
As a producer, DCI/Jet Tec is responsible
for the collection, treatment, recovery and
environmentally sound disposal of WEEE (Waste
Electronic and Electrical Equipment). To comply
with the rules it has registered with a Producer
Compliance Scheme (PCS) and been issued
with a PCS registration number.
Under the rules DCI/Jet Tec customers,
classified as distributors, will need to offer
their customers (i.e. end users) a take-back
scheme whether they sell remanufactured
inkjet and toner cartridges through a shop, mail
order or online. If they do not have a recycling
scheme in place, they must provide customers
with information about where and how they
can recycle i.e. through a store or through a
recycling company they are aligned with.
A customer that imports EEE products has
the same obligations as a producer and will
have to finance the collection and treatment of
WEEE waste as well as offer a take-back scheme.
Sean Hill, Environmental Manager for Jet
Tec, said: “Although the new directive is to be
introduced in the New Year, there will be some
flexibility with everyone becoming compliant
as the Environmental Agency understand that
getting to grips with the transition may take
time.”
