The imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500
series which replaces the C5200
series comprises five colour A3 MFDs
(imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5535,
imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5535i,
imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5540i,
imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5550i and
imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5560i).
The devices all run on the new
imageRUNNER ADVANCE platform,
the next generation architecture for
all future imageRUNNER ADVANCE
products.
Canon says that this single, consistent
platform will enable partners to develop
an expertise across a range of devices for
all environments, meaning they can easily
provide a tailored and optimised solution
that maximises their customers' return on
investment.
“The new shared platform includes
a common interface and operating
platform,” explained Dan Woodstock,
Project Manager, Canon Europe. “Once
partners have become familiar with the
interface, all options, features and user
benefits will be practically identical across
all devices, meaning there is less training
required.”
He added: “It is also backward
compatible (applies only to C5500, 6500
and 8500 models) ensuring customers
no longer have to wait for a new product
launch for updates. Partners can then roll
out any new updates across a customer’s
current fleet.”
Cost and resource savings
The series represents Canon’s most
serviceable technology offering. From
installation, fleet management, diagnostics
and remote services, the imageRUNNER
ADVANCE C5500 series offers all of the
tools required to reduce the cost to serve
associated with providing document
handling solutions.
“The new imageRUNNER ADVANCE
C5500 series has a number of key
improvements, providing partners
with savings both in terms of cost and
resources,” said Woodstock. “The devices
come with ULM, Wi-Fi, HDD encryption,
PCL and PS as well as a document feeder
all included as standard, saving dealers
valuable time during the installation
process.”
The C5500 series comes with
standardised operability and key feature
settings that will apply to all future models.
As a result, the cost of installation and
configuration across an entire device fleet
is minimised. The installation process is
further expedited thanks to central set-up
and maintenance of device settings,
applications and licensing.
“Installation and configuration time can
quickly add up for large fleets,”Woodstock
added. “While partners have different
cost structures, having the reader fitted
as standard can save up to two hours per
device, in addition to the saving from the
ULM, HDD encryption, PCL and PS being
installed as standard.”
Lengthy training processes are
also a thing of the past thanks to the
platform’s shared experience. For users,
this guarantees a consistent look and
feel, meaning that even in the largest
organisations, the printing, scanning and
document management processes are the
same on all devices, right down to the
personalised menus featured on colour
touchscreens.
The imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500
series utilises interchangeable regular
and low yield toner bottles offering a
choice of consumable options. “Partners
can now offer standard or low toner yield
bottles depending on the print volume
requirements of a customer, allowing for
sales models to be customised with lower
initial outlay costs if necessary,”Woodstock
explained.
Canon launch set
to boost partner growth
This flexibility enables partners to
customise and vary their sales model
according to their customer base, revenue
goals or service model.
Furthermore, maintenance and repair
costs are minimised and profit margins
maximised, thanks to Canon’s intelligent
use of existing parts. Building on the
success and popularity of its predecessor,
the C5200 series, the C5500 devices
leverage approximately 88 per cent of
the same parts, enabling partners to
utilise existing service experience when
supporting the new models.
Remote management
Hassle free device and service
management tools consistent across the
new imageRUNNER ADVANCE range
enable entire fleets to be managed and
serviced remotely and the Remote Support
Operation Kit is also standardised to
further simplify this process.
“Once installed, partners are able to
provide remote support through a standard
remote operation kit cutting down on
call out visits. The total number of partner
service visits for repairs and replacements
will also be reduced thanks to the updated
design which ensures longer part life,”
Woodstock said.
The imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500
series has been built for outstanding
efficiency in paper intensive enterprises.
Profit margins are maximised thanks to the
imageRUNNER ADVANCE C5500 series'
use of long life parts to reduce the need
for ongoing maintenance even in the most
demanding environments.
“The devices have interchangeable
toners and drums and the waste toner
bottle is almost three times the capacity
of that in the imageRUNNER ADVANCE
C5200 series,” he added.
The new improved parts represent a
significant reduction to the cost to serve
while standardised items including a
single-pass duplex automatic document
feeder and colour image reader complete a
compelling proposition packed full of value
out of the box.
