Service beyond the call
With over 34-years’
experience of providing IT
services, CCE (CC Engineering
Ltd), one of the UK’s largest
independent IT support
companies is expanding its
offering to deliver a vendor-
agnostic, best-of-breed MPS
solution; a move that they say
could increase its turnover by
50 per cent within five years.
The company was founded in 1978
by Roger Thorpe who remains at the
helm as Chairman and was initially
established as a management
consultancy firm. It changed its name
to Colt Computers Ltd in 1982 and
in 1985 rebranded as CCE. Initially
CCE was established to support the
growing numbers of Colt installations
and its chain of partners, but as the IT
industry as a whole is ever-changing,
CCE continued to evolve and has
successfully expanded its reach,
servicing customers across both the
UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.
Eleven years ago, Roger’s son Giles
was appointed Managing Director and
CCE today employs some 180 staff, is
headquartered near Uxbridge, has a
Manchester base as well as warehousing
and logistics operations that are
geographically spread. CCE has a thriving
channel partner division who white label
services to sell into their client base,
leveraging their partnerships with CCE
to deliver on-site support via a national
network of experienced field IT specialists.
Scalable solutions
The firm provides all elements of traditional
break fix maintenance support from
managed services to a fully outsourced IT
solution. Scalable services include hardware
support, business continuity, managed
desktop, outsourced IT, out of hours service
desk, managed voice, consultancy and
managed services and clients can benefit
from some or all of its services.
James Teather has recently joined the
firm with a brief to develop a value added
proposition that will support both CCE’s
direct customer base and its 100+ network
of channel partners’ clients to address the
complexity, cost and risk of an unmanaged
print environment.
Teather has extensive experience in
designing and delivering strategic managed
print services into a diverse range of
business sizes and vertical markets, gained
through working in the traditional office
equipment reseller channel.
“As traditional business equipment
providers have had to evolve into the IT
arena to meet the needs of customers
with networked print fleets, they are
re-positioning themselves as IT Service
providers who also manage print. CCE
recognise that we need to evolve to meet
this and other potential challenges to our
client base.’’
“We currently have a MIF that includes
over 50,000 printers and we’re addressing
customer demand for an all encompassing
one-stop solution that meets all of their
needs across both the IT, and document
workflow/management infrastructures.
“Effective support makes all the
difference to the smooth running and
profitability of any business. In the same
way that we provide intelligent solutions to
manage the IT infrastructure, we will extend
this by adopting a more proactive approach
to managing print.”
Proactive approach
CCE’s MPS solution will move away
from the traditional break fix model
and proactively manage the print
fleet, using remote monitoring tools to
replace consumables before they run
out, pre-empt faults and ensure on-site
support when it is needed. MPS will also
streamline the procurement process for
customers, especially valuable for multi-
site organisations.
“Our business is customer-driven
and in the same way that CCE and our
channel partners remove the pain points
around IT; by introducing MPS into our
service offering, we will deliver a best-
of-breed, vendor-neutral solution that
will help customers lower costs, improve
efficiency and productivity at the same
time as removing the administrative
support burden from our clients’’.
“It’s a win-win, our clients will
benefit from improved services and the
potential for growth for both CCE and
our channel partners is immense; the
ability to cross sell a mix of services into
existing and new customers is one that’s
too good to ignore.”
