Technology Exposed has secured its
status as the UK’s premier technology
showcase for dealers, resellers and
installers. Held at Ascot’s prestigious
grandstand on the 19/20 September,
this year’s show saw record numbers
of attendees discover the latest
technologies making waves in the
industry across the AV, pro audio,
consumer electronics, security, barcode,
scanning, print and imaging markets.
With over 900 visitors Technology
Exposed 2012 was a testament to the
strength of the channel in a difficult
economic climate. In this spirit of rising to the
challenge, the show got off to a flying start
with an appearance from Olympic champions
Denise Lewis OBE and Daniel Purvis.
Sponsors of the show, Panasonic,
showcased a wealth of technology, while
other heavyweights included Samsung,
Canon, Sony, LG, Olympus, Sharp, Ricoh,
Casio and Dell. Technology Exposed also
served as a showcase for a diverse range
of specialist manufacturers whose products
are on the bleeding-edge of innovation,
including Atlona, AV Stumpfl, Evoko, Exterity,
Radvision, Bosch, AVer, Lumens, Dexon,
Brother, Honeywell, Zebra and many more.
Often used as a launchpad for new
products and technologies, Panasonic led
the way with the debuts of its 3000 ANSI
lumens projector, its range of short throw
projectors and its LED video wall; Samsung
stunned the crowds with its 75-inch SMART
TV as well as demonstrating its first A3
printer; connectivity specialists Atlona
introduced its award-winning Linkcast
wireless HD distribution solution; Evoko’s
sleek and innovative room booking system
was demonstrated, while Dexon’s 4000
series video wall controller could be seen in
full operation.
With projectors, displays, audio systems,
consumer goods, connectivity solutions,
printers, scanners, dictation, imaging, video
conferencing, barcode solutions and much

more, Technology Exposed has grown and
developed to encompass a truly diverse
range of technologies.
However, the focus of this year’s show
was how to bring technology together
to provide fully integrated solutions to
customers.
“Our objective this year was to inspire
our customers and their end users,” reveals
Stephen Fenby, Managing Director of the
Midwich group. “We wanted to showcase
technologies which are both new to the
market and new to our customers and
we wanted to demonstrate the levels of
technical and logistical support which the
Midwich group can provide.”
In a first for the show, technology was
brought together across three specially
designed solution areas that recreated
scenarios within the command and control,
leisure and hospitality, and healthcare
markets.
A fully working command and control
room featured a broad selection of
integrated technologies and a convergence
of AV and security products: furniture from
Intech; a 180 degree curved projection
screen from AV Stumfl; the Panasonic edge
blended and warped projection solution;
Bosch’s Praesideo digital public address and
emergency sound system; Dexon’s video wall
processor plus a range of security products
from Samsung, Bosch, Flir, Dedicated Micros
and Panasonic.
The leisure zone highlighted how to
combine a wealth of products to provide a
more complete solution and included: a pub
scene with EPOS till solutions from Casio;
audio products and projection solutions; an
outdoor leisure area with waterproof screen;
and a cinema foyer integrating large format
displays fed by media players. A range of
security equipment was also incorporated
including ZyXEL switching and a range of
Bosch cameras.
Depicting a real life medical scene
featuring a waiting area, hospital bed and
consultation room, the healthcare solution
zone brought together: video conferencing
for diagnostics; prescription and label
printing; digital signage and displays; access
control and security; as well as barcode
scanners and an interactive TV. This zone
gave resellers a huge range of ideas and
opportunities to expand their current
offering.
“Technology Exposed exceeded
expectations this year,” reveals True Colours
Sales Director Iain Campbell. “In particular,
I was really happy with the command and
control zone and how our team managed
to demonstrate an exciting conceptual
approach between AV and security
technology.”
Celine Hackett, Midwich Business
Manager, operated the healthcare zone
and reports: “With the healthcare market
becoming more and more sophisticated
in terms of technology, we showcased
many products from across the Midwich
group as they would be in their end user
environments.”
Organised by the Midwich group of
trade-only distributors, Technology Exposed
2012 brought together experts from across
the group’s specialist divisions; the security
specialists Midwich Security; the barcode,
scanning and EPOS experts, Synergix; pro
audio specialists, RW Salt; the technical
AV solutions specialists, True Colours;
specialists in residential custom installations,
MidwichHome; leisure and hospitality
experts, Owl Visual; and integrated AV
solution providers for residential, commercial
and marine applications, Invision UK;
alongside a presence from Square One, the
AV and IT distributor offering local insight
and knowledge to the Irish market.
The show also served as an opportunity
to showcase the new range of products
from MidwichHome’s newly launched small
domestic appliances division and received a
high level of interest from the independent
reseller channel.
In bringing together so many
manufacturers, industry experts,
consultants, resellers, installers and
other like-minded members of the
channel all under the
one roof, Technology
Exposed 2012 has
proved itself to be an
essential fixture on the
industry calendar.
Showcasing cutting-edge technology from world-
leading brands, Technology Exposed 2012 brought
