Printing has
to adapt to
the way in
which we
are using
smartphones
and tablet
devices
AirPrint technology
HP offers wireless printing from any
iPad, iPhone or iPod touch with Apple’s
AirPrint. With AirPrint, the Apple iOS device
automatically locates and connects to
HP AirPrint-enabled printers on a Wi-Fi
network allowing users to simply hit ‘Print’
within their applications.
Brother (
www.brother.co.uk
) recently
unveiled a range of mobile solutions to
support the increasing number of SoHo
users and consumers choosing to move to
cloud-based services.
AirPrint technology is available on its
new range of A4 all in one inkjet machines
and enables home workers to print emails,
web pages and other documents wirelessly
from their iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch
without the need to install drivers.
The range also supports Google Cloud
Print which supports printing from any
Google Chromebook and any Google
Cloud Print-enabled web, desktop or
mobile app with no driver installation
needed. Web Connect enables users
to connect to Google Docs, Dropbox,
Facebook, Picasa and Flickr and print or
scan directly from the machine.
This new technology, together with
the already popular Cortado and Brother
iPrint&Scan, means Brother offers a
mobile print solution, regardless of the
device being used. They will enable users
to print a variety of documents, such
as Excel spreadsheets and PowerPoint
presentations, on all devices, including
iPhone, iPad, Android, Windows 7 and
BlackBerry.
Phil Jones, UK Country Head said:
“Printing has to adapt to the way in
which we are using smartphone and
tablet devices.
“Our solutions will make printing
and scanning easier and quicker, at no
additional cost. They will enable workers
to take advantage of the latest technology
and create a solution for ambitious home
users who want to take advantage of the
rising trend of working remotely.”
HP ePrint
HP’s ePrint technology allows users to print
directly from their mobile device while
on the go, simply by sending an email to
the printer’s unique email address. HP
ePrint Enterprise, developed specifically
to integrate into the IT infrastructure of
enterprises, allows employees to print to
network-connected printers directly from
the secure ePrint App installed to their
approved mobile device.
HP has also introduced HP Wireless
Direct printing to some of its new devices
which enables users to print directly from
their mobile device to a HP wireless direct
printer, without the need for the printer
to be connected to a network. This allows
immediate printing without the need to
download additional software.
